Small Business Saturday
Posted by Tollfreenumber.ORG at November 28th, 2014
This Saturday marks the fifth annual Small Business Saturday, where you’re invited to do most of your holiday shopping at smaller, local retailers. Every time we talk to our clients about this, they completely understand since they usually are a small business that relies on the local community. And when you spend money locally, it goes back in to your own city and completes a wonderful cycle of prosperity in your town. Even local businesses that happen to have a website with an online marketplace can you’re your community benefit – when they get paid, they can in turn spend money locally!
Most large businesses are recognizable by their name. It’s not that you have to completely ignore these places but perhaps focus your efforts more so on the businesses in your area. The ones with names you don’t see commercials for. Here at www.TollFreeNumber.ORG we’ve compiled a list of ways to help you shop small and save big this holiday season:
- Malls can be convenient but generally contain lots of big name stores that are anything but local. The money you spend at big name stores isn’t generally filtered back in to your city but sent off elsewhere. They pull in money from your city and in turn send it away to corporate, usually in another state! Try to avoid malls.
- Franchises are considered local since it’s a big name but a small operator. Feel free to support your local franchises!
- Outdoor plazas tend to showcase a lot of small and local businesses and they’re easy to navigate!
4. If you have a small, local business, advertise in the area! Be festive!
